On "The Sacrament of Sin" there is the song "Stoßgebet". Someone commented correctly on youtube: "Basically, it's about sex. Stoßgebet is a play on words because it means quick prayer, but "stoßen" is also the movement during sex."Also the next German phrase is ambigous: "Der Kirchturmpfahl zum Himmel steht" means "The church tower's pole stands tall in the sky". It's funny that the German word "Pfahl - pole, stake" sounds like "phallus", but there is - as long as I see - no connection. Both words have different roots.

So, here are the lyrics:

The Latin words aren't always correct in case and endings, so this is my interpretation of the lyrics.

Armata means armed and strigoi sounds like the latin word striga - witch. But the ending "-oi" ist masculine plural in Ancient Greek, therefore the basic form must be "strigos". This is the name of the Warhammer's "Empire of Vampyre" [by the way, if Powerwolf ever gonna cooperate with Cradle of Filth ("Powerfilth"), this would be the perfect album's title - feel free to use it!].

Powerwolf arose out of the void and ascended the top of the cross within just a few years. Their last record reached the top of the German charts, their newest one - released today - may repeat the success. We'll see. At the moment, I lack the whole lyrics of their new record, therefore I enter the past and gonna talk about their 2007-release "Lupus Dei".

The first song (The Wolf of the Demon) and the last one (The Wolf of God) on this record contain latin phrases:

These words are grammatically c..., a few latin words just strung together without considering grammar rules, declination or conjugation. I translate them litterally, so everybody can interpret them by himself. 

Totally wrong is the line corpus nudus domina for example. The word "corpus" is neutral case, the word "domina" feminine case. If "nudus" should refer to "corpus", the correct ending would be "nudum", if if should refer to "domina", the correct ending would be "nuda", or better, in genitive case (= of the nude lady) "dominae nudae".

When I first read the title, I thought "What the f***?"  The title means Holy balls. (Althought the plural form Colei Sancti would have been better - Holy ball isn't that masculine) But then I checked the whole lyrics and saw that my first impression was right and that their lyrics are quite funny and ironical.

These latin lines are from the Gregorian hymn "Dies Irae". It talkes about a book which is called "The book of Life". In this book, God records the names of every person who is destined for Heaven or the World to Come.

That's how the first Rhapsody of Fire album starts. Grammatically, everything is correct, which makes me happy. This is the meaning of these lines:

The Swedish are marching again... using German tanks and Latin words, at least in the song "Wehrmacht", where they sing:

This mean

to victory!
out of the machine
not for self but for the fatherland

I found out in the internet that this latin phrase is engraved in the doors of the United States Naval Academy chapels. It's also the motto of USS Halyburton.
